A plastic device inserted between the frames of a hive to trap the Small Hive Beetle (SHB), and therefore protect a honey bee colony. The trap is 17.5 cm long and 3cm deep, designed to fit in between the frames of a hive. The device can hold about 25 mL of vegetable oil, which acts as the trapping fluid. The holes on the top are big enough for the Hive Beetle to enter and small enough so that the honeybees are safe.
How to use it:
- add vegetable oil inside the trap
- fill up about 65% of the height so that the HSB is trapped and cannot climb up
- place device in the hive between frames
